Description:Polk County Environmental Science is a socioscientific issues (SSI), place-based curriculum. Student engagement is attained through the ill-structured and controversial nature of a local study of environmental concerns. Individual SSI Units provide the overarching environmental issues of contention and outline the instructional methodologies required for the coordination of the civil discourse and scientific argumentation inherent to the course. This benchmark reference manual is to be used as REFERENCE ONLY in facilitating the SSI curriculum.
