This concept consists of three videos related to sleep. Each video link is followed by a set of questions related to the video. Read the questions prior to watching the video. Think about the questions as you watch the video, and/or answer the questions after watching the video.
biological clock: Structure that controls the activities of an organism whose activities change on a regular 24-hour cycle.
circadian rhythm: Regular change in biology or behavior that occurs in a 24-hour cycle.
hormone: A chemical messenger molecule.
neurotransmitter: Chemical that carries a nerve impulse from one nerve cell to another at the synapse.
pharynx: Long, tubular organ that connects the mouth and nasal cavity with the larynx; food and air pass through it.
trachea: Long, tubular organ, also called the wind pipe, that carries air between the larynx and lungs.
Summary
Getting a good night sleep is important to staying healthy.
Accumulating sleep debt or having poor sleep habits can keep you from being your best.
